Method
To prepare the Citrus Syrup: Combine the listed components in a saucepan, bring to a gentle boil, mixing to dissolve. Next, turn off the heat allowing it to reach room temperature fully. Decant to a sealable bottle, close it and refrigerate it chilled, it will last for about one month.
For the Cocktail Base: Mix all the liquids in a sizeable container, let it rest for one hour, then pass it through best through cheesecloth, making it completely strained.
To serve: Add 85ml from the cocktail base into your cocktail shaker containing ice, gently stirring lightly for a minute until cold. Strain to a cold coupe glass or similar, top with the cranberries and complete it by giving it a quick spritz with the mandarin essence over the top.
